How to Bring Love into Your Home All Year Round

I’ve been resisting the urge to write about Valentine’s Day. Not because I don’t enjoy celebrating love, but because, if I’m honest, the idea of gift-giving on just one specific day doesn’t quite resonate with me.
I’ve never been much of a romantic in the traditional sense. My husband knows this well—he’d rather surprise me with flowers just because, rather than because the calendar tells him to. And he knows me well enough to pick daffodils over roses; bright and cheery, rather than overly formal. If you’ve ever stepped inside Source for the Goose, you’ll know that sums up my style perfectly—not glamorous, just natural, well-loved, and a little bit worn. As you can then imagine, my favourite vintage finds will bring love into my home are old jugs, interesting canisters and vases, filled with a wild mix of flowers - nothing formal just so I can enjoy their beauty.

So instead of writing about Valentine’s gifts, I want to talk about the joy of treating ourselves and our loved ones all year round. That could be taking the time for a long walk, sitting down with a book without feeling guilty, or, for me, giving a piece of furniture a new lease of life with a coat of paint. There’s something so satisfying about taking a tired, dated piece and watching it transform with just a little creativity and the magic of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint.
Whether it’s soft, muted tones for a timeless feel or a bold splash of colour to make a statement, each brushstroke brings new character and charm. Seeing those once-forgotten pieces become beautiful and loved again—that’s my kind of joy, no special occasion needed. Here is a recent item, that was once unloved, and with the addition of a pretty green paint became an eye-catching and loved addition to someone's home.

If this idea fills you with a sense of purpose, then read more about updating some old pine a new and loved look. Ready to get started - head over to my Annie Sloan Paint range!
So, whether you're someone who loves a grand romantic gesture or, like me, prefers life's small, meaningful moments, here’s your reminder to show yourself a little love—today and every day.
