My 10 Top Images from 2022, Celebrating Favourite Products and Second Hand Vintage Furniture
My top 10 images of 2022 at Source for the Goose, celebrating favourite products, some lovely second hand vintage furniture and memories from the year.
There were almost too many pieces of furniture for me to choose just one favourite from this year. This mahogany bow front chest of drawers with its wonderful warm patina and very tactile shape made it to the top of my list. This was snapped up almost as soon as I took this photo - not surprising really!
Keeping with the theme of chest of drawers and as a complete contrast to the one above - I painted this sweet little piece in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Paloma. This gorgeous colour is a lilac toned grey, which worked with with the spring/summer theme in the shop. I particularly love the Braided Rug in Mint Green as a contrast.
I started planning my Annie Sloan workshops around this time. Workshops will continue next year with some additions to the offering - so watch this space. Alternatively, if you just want to get cracking - check out the paint range for colour inspiration.
Keeping in the mood of spring and summer; it was such fun putting together this window display of gardenalia - both vintage and new. As you can see, the displays spill out onto the path outside the shop - attracting lots of attention.
Third on my list of favourite pieces of second hand vintage furniture, is this perfectly rustic Victorian pine dresser. It just happened to arrive at the same time as the vintage blue and white china, making an eye-catching display.
Continuing the rustic interiors theme, this little display featured some rustic stoneware; runners and tablecloths in muted greens complement the scene.
Last but not least on my list of favourite items of furniture, I am featuring another item which I painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. If you follow me on Instagram and Facebook, you would have enjoyed the journey as I transformed this unloved cupboard into a stylish piece, with pretty decoupage inside and this gorgeous soft grey green exterior.
More memories were made when I had a visit from my grandson who was my able assistant for the day. I'm training him early to appreciate the beauty of vintage furniture!
A favourite on many customers' shopping lists are the rugs and baskets by The Braided Rug Company. Below are the delightful olive coloured storage baskets. From a large size suitable to store logs, to the smallest one which makes a great home for kindling or perhaps as an alternative to a plant pot. These make great presents - if you can bear to give them away. Check out my blog featuring the favourite designs in this popular range.
This year I felt very privileged to be contacted by Country Living magazine to be featured in their Vintage Home publication. This is a coffee table publication and I am treasuring mine.
And so to the end of the year and the Christmas window display. After the busy season I will be taking a break and reopening in January ready to inspire you with lots of lovely new displays of second hand vintage furniture and my thoughtfully selected accessories.
Take care, Love Jill x
